To understand how we treat them, you first need to understand what lines and wrinkles are. As we age our skin loses elasticity and becomes more fragile, oil production within the skin slows down making our skin dryer and more prone to wrinkling. There are 2 types of wrinkles, static and dynamic. Static wrinkles are because of aging and gravity, they generally form around the eyes, forehead and peri-oral (mouth) area. Dynamic wrinkles are because of repeated movements in areas of the face, for example smile or frown lines as a result of commonly used facial expressions. The good news? We can treat both and have you still looking like you, but better.
In clinic, we offer a plethora of different treatments suited to treat lines and wrinkles depending on the severity and location. We offer both muscle relaxing injections, dermal fillers, and bio-stimulatory treatments. Less invasive methods such as chemical peels and cosmeceutical grade skincare and radio frequency skin tightening are good for those who don’t wish to venture into injectables. The best treatment is entirely dependent on your skin and what you wish to achieve, in clinic we will give you all the information you need so that you can decide on what treatment is the best, for you.
The most common treatment for lines and wrinkles of course the muscle relaxing injection. This treatment relaxes the muscles to lessen the appearance of wrinkles in areas such as the forehead and crow’s feet. For deeper wrinkles, dermal fillers can be used to plump up where skin is sagging. Fillers can alleviate smoker’s lines around the mouth which often causes your lipstick to bleed as you age! As with anything, we’d like to prevent as well as treat, so a good skincare routine is key to hydrating the skin with moisturisers and active ingredients to alleviate the negative effects of aging on our skin. Chemical peels can be useful to treat fine lines and wrinkles and are great to give your skin a boost before events. Radio frequency skin tightening can also be used to lift and tighten skin.
Book a consultation in clinic with us! You will complete a full medical history form so we can understand your skin better. We will discuss in depth your areas of concern, expected treatment outcomes and preferred treatment types.
